KHEEMA WITH PEAS
When I was growing up in India, this dish was a staple in our household. On Sundays, my father would take to the kitchen and cook this wonderful dish for the whole family. He would sometimes add in a stick of cinnamon to give it an extra punch. - Nilou

Ingredients

1 tablespoon (15 mL) olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 large onion, peeled and chopped fine
½ teaspoon black pepper
3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced fine
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1-inch fresh ginger piece, peeled and grated
½ teaspoon curry powder
1 pound (440 g) ground beef
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 large tomato
1 tablespoon (20 g) honey
¾ cup (100 g) SCD-safe frozen peas
G cup (4 g) fresh cilantro, chopped fine

Instructions

1. In a stovetop pan, on medium heat, add in oil and sauté the onion, garlic, and ginger until tender
2. Add in the ground beef, and let brown
3. Once the beef is slightly cooked, add in the tomato, honey, salt, pepper, and spice powders
4. Mix them into the beef, and cook covered for about 15-20 minutes until beef is almost done
5. If it gets too dry, add in a bit of water
