This simple grilled preparation can be used for Brussels sprouts, Cubanelle peppers, portabella mushrooms, and fennel as well. You can add/subtract seasonings and proportions of oil as required.


1 pound (270 g) asparagus, washed and bottom ends trimmed
1 tablespoon (15 mL) olive oil
1½ teaspoon sesame seeds*
1 teaspoon salt


1. Set the asparagus on a flat ovenproof baking pan
2. Drizzle with the olive oil, sesame seeds, and salt
3. Cook in a pre-heated 375°F (190°C or gas mark 5) oven for about 20-30 minutes, turning them to ensure they are cooked on all sides
4. *Note: Wait for at least 3 months after symptoms have cleared to try any kind of seeds
