Bulgogi Wraps
Bulgogi literally translates as "fire meat" in Korean cuisine, and it is one
of the most popular dishes in Korea. The meat is traditionally grilled over
a flame, but pan-cooking can be used as an alternative--as in this recipe, where we have chosen to pan-fry it on top of the stove.
1 pound (455 g) rib-eye beef
1/4 cup (60 ml) SCD Asian Sauce (page 173)
1/3 cup (80 ml) sesame oil
2 tablespoons (40 g) honey
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
8 to 10 spring onions, finely chopped
Pepper and salt to taste
5 to 6 lettuce leaves
Cut the beef into thin slices. Set aside.
Combine the remaining ingredients, except the lettuce, in a large bowl. Add the beef, and marinate for 1 hour.
Stir-fry the beef on top of the stove over medium-high heat until it is cooked through, 10 to 15 minutes.
Wash the lettuce leaves, and place alongside the beef. Wrap the leaf around the beef, and eat!
