Recipes for the Specific Carbohydrate Diet - Crohn's disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Celiac, Autism

RECIPE BOOK IS LAUNCHED! (THANK YOU)

Friday, February 1, 2008

In the late 2006, Fair Winds Press contacted us and asked if we would like to write a recipe book for the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. By the time January came, we were spending much of our time in the kitchen, working diligently on testing recipes we had collected (and being careful not to repeat recipes from any other SCD books).

Many, many people helped us along the way from encouraging and proofreading to submitting recipes and helping with content. The underlying feeling was to keep the momentum going in making the specific carbohydrate diet more accessible.

The recipe book process can be a lot of fun and quite, well, filling. During one long weekend of cooking we were able to feed our neighbors--and our neighbors' neighbors:) We also took a front row seat at a food photography shoot where a food stylist, food photographer, and art director collaborated to cook, shoot, and re-shoot 40 of the dishes.

I drove to the shoot, a cynic, thinking food photography involved a plastic fried egg, shellac, and some well-used props. However, we arrived at a studio that included a full kitchen, well-stocked refrigerator, and many dishes in various stages of being cooked. The food was real! The only addition we saw was the occasional, careful application of water--to make the carrot sticks sing!

At the end of August 2007, the final book manuscript was sent off to production.

Beginning today, our new cookbook, Recipes for the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, is available through all major book sellers, both online and in stores.

We spent many nights and weekends in the kitchen working on it and hope that you enjoy it as much as we did!
