AN SCD SOUP ON CBS'S THE EARLY SHOW!

Thursday, February 1, 2007

On Tuesday, February 6th, CBS's "The Early Show" will feature Trina Bigham of Fair Haven, MA. Her SCD-legal "Colorful Chicken 'n' Squash Soup" won the Grand Prize in Taste of Home magazine's recipe contest.

She is scheduled to appear between 8:30 and 8:50 am.
Date: Tuesday, Feb. 6 Time: between 8:30 and 8:50 am (EST) Program: The Early Show on CBS
Trina is one of many people helping set up the Gottschall Autism center. She was also instrumental in helping raise money to set up a local playground for children with disabilities. Regarding her work on the playground, here is an excerpt from the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Quest magazine:
. . . Her friend Trina Bigham, whose son Brennan has cerebral palsy, had similar concerns. Together, they raised a few hundred dollars from bake sales and thought they might come up with enough money to buy a few accessible playground pieces. Then they saw an article about Jonathan's Dream and made the three-hour drive to check it out.

"We got there and Patrick was amazed," Barry recalls. "He said, 'I don't need you, Mom.' That's when you know you've done a successful job."

They set their sights a little higher, and ultimately raised $210,000. Everybody's Playground opened in August.

All three playground builders seem a little stunned by what they've accomplished, but they say that anyone with drive and energy can do it.
