Book Announcement! The SCD for Autism and ADHD

For the past 3 years (not including this one), Pamela Ferro and I have been working on a book to share her clinical experience in treating hundreds of children diagnosed with autism and ADHD.

This book is particularly relevant for children with autism and digestive issues.  Whether they seem minor (diarrhea,  constipation, bloating) or are severe (reflux, Crohn’s disease), these digestive issues can seriously impact behavior.

We expected to spend a few months of our after-work hours writing a short guide, maybe a few dozen pages.  However, as we talked to parents of current and former patients about their experiences with everything from GERD and sensory issues to OCD behavior and even pica, the book began growing.  In addition to the science and the food lists, key elements include Building a Support Network and Caring for Mom.

When we finished, the book had become a 444-page reference as well as a cookbook.  It was a true collaboration including families, friends, parents using the SCD, and healthcare practitioners who generously shared their time (or cleared space to give us time:)

Within days, the book will be in stock at Amazon as well as GIPro.  More information about the book, including the Foreword by Dr. Martha Herbert, may be found on:
