SCD Study at Rush is Full (but more controls needed)

March 14, 2011

image 1For their study, Rush University Medical Center in Chicago has recruited over 100 people on the Specific Carbohydrate diet!  They no longer need any more SCD volunteers and they thank everyone who has contacted them.

However, Rush is still recruiting people with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or indeterminate colitis to act as controls.  The benefit of acting as a control is a chance to receive the results of your stool analysis--and learn about the bacterial population in your gut.  These tests are expensive to run so if you're curious it's worth the effort.  (The test involves sending in 2 stool samples and 1 urine sample.  They supply all materials, postage, etc.)

The clinical trials page regarding the SCD may be seen online on the Rush Medical Center website

If you are interested in participating or have questions, please contact 312-942-3466 or clinical_trials@rush.edu  (ORA: 10051005-IRB01    Date IRB Approved: 12/1/2010)

(FYI: I am participating in this study)
