August 31, 2006

This Monday I flew back from India. A week before flying out I went to the KLM/Northwest office in Mumbai to see if they'd allow me to bring food on the trip. They made no promises, advised ordering a fruit plate, and wished me luck.

On the actual trip (24+ hrs door to door), they let me keep my tupperware containers of food--minus the ice packs. However, I'm not sure if this will work next time. Before the India to Amsterdam leg, as airport employees searched all carry-on baggage for the second time, a man to my left had his chutney confiscated. A moment later, a man to my right ranted about having his duty-free cologne taken away ("I just paid 50 bucks for that!"). He obviously hadn't been following the news. The flight itself was uneventful as was digestion in India:)
